Looking over the adjoining farm from his balcony at his home at Beaumont Care Wamuran aged care, ‘Snow’ likes to reminisce about his days growing up on an orchard farm near Stanthorpe and managing sheep and cattle farms.
“I grew up on my family’s orchard farm just outside of Stanthorpe. We grew apple trees, pears, peaches and plums,” said Snow.
“When my parents retired, and the farm was sold, my wife June and I travelled around managing sheep and cattle farms. We brought up our three children on sheep and cattle farms.
“I love horses, and my son and I used to travel around playing polo cross.
“I’m a farmer born and bred and a jack of all trades.”
Given Snow’s love of the land, the decision to move to Beaumont Care Wamuran was an easy one. He also likes that his home is modern and comfortable, and the staff look after him well.
“I can see the farm from my room. That’s the main reason why I moved here. I am my own man here,” he said.
Beaumont Care Owner Linda Beaumont said the home at Wamuran, which opened in October last year, was built for people who come off the land, the local community, and surrounding neighbours.
“It’s a beautiful country-style home with large verandas. Every room has a view,” said Linda.

The Open Day will be subject to COVID-19 restrictions and anyone who attends will need to be well and bring evidence that they have had this year’s flu vaccination to enter the facility.
