Husband and wife of 52 years and Beaumont Care Clontarf residents, Steve and Irene, love the fact that they could still live together in the same room when health issues meant that it was time to move and have extra care and support around them.
“I like that we are able to share a room here, so don’t ever get lonely because we have each other to talk to,” said Irene.
“Our room is homely, and we have everything we need including our cd collection to listen to.”
Amongst participating in the activities that the community has to offer, such as exercise classes, knitting and bus trips, Irene spends her spare time sewing while Steve enjoys Sudoku.
“I’ve made plenty of Easter bags and Christmas bags and given them to my grandchildren. I also knit coat hangers and have even written about the history of my life,” said Irene.
Steven and Irene say that the staff are respectful, cater to your needs and make you feel like royalty.
“They can’t do enough for you,” said Steve.
“There is lots of good food, and if you don’t like what’s on the menu, then they will make you something that you like. They will even bring you a cuppa at two o’clock in the morning if you wake up and can’t get back to sleep.”
“There is no better place for us to be right now,” said Irene.
