Poem Written By Rothwell Residents

The residents at Rothwell collaborated and wrote a poem together.

Poem Written By Rothwell Residents

As each day dawns in Rothwell, we never know what to expect or how the day will pan out. The residents of Rothwell can quite often surprise you! As the residents gathered for morning tea and to start the day`s activities with Lea, they were informed that it was Worldwide Poem Day. Lots of Australian poems were read out and the poems and authors were discussed. The residents then asked about writing their own poem.

The first step of that process was to get together a list of all Australia things that they wanted to see in the poem. Then it started to come together…and come together it did.

The original work of the Rothwell Collective.

Australia Calling

As the sun shines by near the Sunshine Coast
The water rolls in and the waves break on the shore
The noise in the morning and the howling of the fox
The dingo`s hunting day and night
All the rubbish taken in fright

The aboriginals are the first Australians
Here they are for their country
War cry’s and digeridoos
Painted red and white and blue

Walking in the rain and walking in the bush
Walking everywhere without any fuss
This is Australia calling.
This is us.
