Waitangi Day at Redcliffe

This year we celebrated Waitangi Day at Redcliffe enjoyed by residents and visitors, staff and doctor.

Katrina Russell organised, baked and spent many hours in the planning of Waitangi Day providing the NZ fare.  Lots of L&P fizzy drink, a NZ soft drink was a special treat.  Our baked goods consisted of Louise Cake, Batchelor’s buttons, Orange Crisps, Hokey Pokey biscuits and NZ Lolly Cake.

We also had NZ chips – Rashuns, Curlies and Green Onion chips with homemade French Onion Dip. We also served Pudding with Kiwi fruit.

While eating we watched a video of a Maori group singing Poi E and doing their dance with poi’s. After this we watched the men doing the Haka.

We had a lot of good feedback from everyone who enjoyed tasting new foods and learning a little bit more about our “neighbours across the ditch”.
