Living With Voices

Living With Voices

Wamuran Park Home was privileged to hear first-hand from Steven Dolman, Consumer/Carer Consultant, providing mental health care supports for those who hear voices.

Steven works to reduce stigma as an educator delivering peer support. Steven is driven to communicate and help people through his own lived experiences and has a message of “being on your own, but not alone” unfolding his own message to people needing support in goal setting, socialisation, nutrition, education, normalising life, supporting least restrictive practices, and equal acceptance.

For those who hear voices, Steven says to “change negative thinking using the 3Cs. Catch it – Check it – Change it, and to treat yourself as your own best friend”.

His journey is truly remarkable. We look forward to hearing Steven speak again. Steven’s services are at Redcliffe Caboolture Metro North Mental Health Service.
