When Ria was looking for a new home to give her the extra care and support she needed, taking her 11 year old Persian cat Jaapie with her was not negotiable.
“Jaapie, which is Dutch for Jacob and named after Jacob in the Bible, is my baby. He is my life and means the world to me,” said Ria.
“I was not moving anywhere without him.”
Just over three months ago Ria and Jaapie found their new aged care home at Beaumont Care Mount Tamborine’s Roslyn Lodge, and they haven’t looked back.
“The staff are beautiful here, and the care is wonderful. Not everyone is the same or likes the same things. Their job is not always easy, but the staff do it well and cater for the needs of each person. The food is very good and Jaapie has settled in well,” said Ria.
Ria has also embraced the social activities on offer and continues to maintain her social connections in the community.
“I really enjoy singing along to The Beatles and Elvis on Thursday afternoons and then we have a glass of wine afterwards.
“There are church services here and my friend visits every Saturday and takes me out to the shops for lunch. I also enjoy going on bus trips out to coffee shops.”
