A Place Where I Can Be Me

A health setback initiated Lynn’s early retirement several years ago from her career as a medical receptionist and put her in a position where she needed care and support. After moving into Beaumont Care Wamuran in October last year and being matched with an NDIS carer through Beaumont Care’s Independent Living service, Lynn has finally regained her independence, freedom, and dignity.

“I like that no matter who you are, this place lets you be you,” said Lynn.

“I have my privacy, my own room, and the right to choose and make my own decisions. If you need a nurse, they are always here to assist.”

With the support of her carer, Lynn is able to pursue the activities that she loves, like shopping, going to the movies, the zoo, out to dinner, and being pampered at the nail salon. She even had the opportunity to take a trip to Port Macquarie earlier this year to visit her son, who she had not seen for six years, and finally got to meet her grandsons – something that Lynn could not have imagined possible a year ago.

“It was really lovely to see my son again, my grandchildren and my friends in Port Macquarie,” said Lynn.

“Karen (my carer) is amazing. My family thinks so too.

“I plan to start hydro at the local pool soon, and I am planning a trip to Sea Life at the Sunshine Coast.”

Lynn also makes the most of the in-house activities on offer at Beaumont Care Wamuran, loves the chef-prepared meals and says that the staff are wonderful.

“I like hoy, bingo, trivia and movies, but my favourite is happy hour with live music on Fridays,” said Lynn.

“The staff are here for you, and they treat you very well.

“The food is really good. The staff come around with the menu, and you have the opportunity to choose what you like.”

Beaumont Care Owner, Linda Beaumont, said that understanding and meeting the individual needs of each resident is something that the staff are passionate about.

“We are all about providing warm-hearted care to residents and their families, especially in their time of need,” said Linda.
