Swimming Achievement Recognised

A terrific story of achievement by long-term Wamuran Park Home resident, Ray Tetley, who recently received an award and had a special morning tea to celebrate his swimming achievements.

Ray was out of swimming fitness after 30 years of no swimming. Earlier this year, he decided to conquer the pool as a preferred activity and goal and participated in NDIS hydro swimming sessions with his physio Michael. Since starting his sessions, Ray has progressed from 2 breaths and one stroke to swimming 50 metres in 50 seconds, the full length of the pool, and 4 strokes to one breath. This is a remarkable achievement.

Ray now uses goggles to follow the line, his balance and direction have all improved, he is looking younger, has lost weight, and his strengthening exercises with floating weights, along with Ray’s own commitment, has made a big difference to his energy and lifestyle.

Our Wamuran Park Home residents benefit from NDIS services, delivered daily to help them achieve and exceed their personal goals. For more information, call us on 07 5496 6503.
