Clontarf residents got into the spirit of Oktoberfest last week, with Bavarian costumes, pretzels and other German beers and snacks!

Did you know that Oktoberfest stands as the world’s premier Volksfest? This iconic event takes place every year in Munich’s Theresienwiese, running from mid-September through the first Sunday of October. The festival attracts approximately seven million attendees annually. Beyond beer and beverages, the festival offers carnival rides, entertainment games, food vendors, and authentic Bavarian cuisine. The tradition began on 12 October 1810, originally conceived as a celebration of Crown Prince Ludwig’s marriage to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen.
