This Dementia Action Week, Beaumont Care joins communities across Australia in raising awareness, reducing stigma, and encouraging meaningful conversations about dementia. This year’s campaign, led by Dementia Australia, reminds us that it’s time to talk about dementia and work together to create more inclusive and supportive communities for people living with dementia.
As part of this important week, we are delighted to shine a spotlight on our lovely resident, Roselyne.
Roselyne’s story is uniquely her own. Like every person living with dementia, she brings with her a lifetime of experiences, relationships, achievements, interests, and treasured memories. While dementia may change the way a person experiences the world, it does not change who they are. Every individual deserves to be recognised, valued, and supported to live with dignity and purpose.
At Beaumont Care, we are committed to providing person-centred care that celebrates the individual behind the diagnosis. By taking the time to understand each resident’s personal history, preferences, interests, and routines, we create opportunities for meaningful connections and support residents to continue living fulfilling lives.
For Roselyne, this means getting to know the things that bring her comfort, joy, and a sense of belonging. Through compassionate care, genuine relationships, and a supportive environment, we help ensure she feels welcomed, safe, respected, and connected within our community.
Dementia Action Week provides an opportunity for all of us to learn more about dementia, challenge misconceptions, and consider how we can contribute to building dementia-friendly communities. Simple actions such as offering patience, showing understanding, listening, and fostering social connection can have a profound impact on the wellbeing of people living with dementia and their families.
Together, we can create communities where people living with dementia continue to feel valued, included, heard, and connected.
