With bubbles on arrival and a packed afternoon of events last Saturday, Rotary’s 5th annual Women’s Day, a seriously successful high tea, at the Pacific Harbour Golf and Country Club.
Familiar faces were Rae Guyder and Tara Quirke, both of whom have spent substantial time with us at our services over the years.
The positive welcome by Rae focussed on Interplast, a charitable foundation for which Rae fundraises at every opportunity, making a difference to the lives of many throughout Asia-Pacific.
Guest speaker Tara Quirke gave a personal and professional address on dementia, captivating us all on the lives it touches “with over 140 different forms, and of those living with dementia, Alzheimer’s being the most common”. Tara’s quest is “to have dementia friendly communities enabling wider knowledge and support as we age in our communities with strategies to reduce risk for us all.”
Rotary supports so many projects in our local communities, nationally and internationally, and this global celebration of women was no exception. Well done Bribie Island Rotary.
